The people we will always remember

Since the beginning of the Farnham Youth Project, now known as 40 Degreez. The people involved from the start to where we are now, either as staff, volunteers or Trustees have all played a part in their own way to what the charity is.

From the time of the rebranding to 40 Degreez, there has been key people who played a huge part & will always firming in the heart of 40 Degreez.

Janet Maines MBE

Janet took over from Pat Clough as Chair of trustees for the then Farnham Youth Project, at a time when the current trustees were at a point to move on. A new group of trustees were brought on board including our current treasurer Peter who Janet knew personally. The new trustees had a new vibrant vision and wanted to bring this to fruition, of a youth and community building. This vision succeeded and 40 Degreez was born. Throughout her time as Chair, she worked tirelessly to promote the cause, especially amongst her vast contacts. At public events, Janet and Victor would champion 40 Degreez whole heartedly. After many years, when Janet stood down and Iwan was nominated as chair, she still remained a trustee. At meetings Janet remained as opinionated and go getting as before and her love for 40 Degreez didn't wain. Janet's time at 40 Degrees will always be remembered for all that she helped to achieve to where we are now. Sadly Janet passed away in February 2023. She will be greatly missed by all those who knew her at 40 Degreez and we were extremely proud when she was awarded an MBE in the 2016 New Years Honours list.
